Michele Sessa - Goldsmith Designer MIKELART

MIKELART was founded in 2002 by Michele Sessa , a goldsmith designer who transformed his artistic sensibility into a unique project: creating jewelry that conveys the movement, elegance, and emotion of gesture. His primary inspiration was classical ballet , a universe in which technique and beauty coexist in perfect balance. From this vision, an instantly recognizable line of jewelry took shape, which over time became a true benchmark for the industry.

Over the years, Michele Sessa's work has consolidated the brand's positioning well beyond the product. MIKELART creates jewelry, awards, and special pieces for internationally renowned figures such as Pope Francis, Carla Fracci, Svetlana Zakharova, Roberto Baggio, and Polina Semionova , establishing itself as a brand capable of combining craftsmanship, symbolic homage, and the culture of prestige. At the same time, it develops customized lines for leading institutions such as the Accademia del Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the Opéra de Paris, and the Royal Academy of Dance in London , consolidating its authority in the dialogue between jewelry, dance, and major educational organizations.

In 2006, Michele Sessa founded MK DANZA , a company specializing in the distribution of dance clothing, footwear, and costumes, simultaneously opening its first store in Vicenza. This strategic move broadened the brand's presence throughout the dance industry, transforming MK DANZA into the official distributor and promoter of MIKELART jewelry.

In 2011 , together with entrepreneur Roberto Boggi , Dance House was born, a project that combines product development and service through a dedicated clothing line and the Temporary Dance Shop format. In the same year, MIKELART received the Company Award at the MPS Award dedicated to L'Italia che Danza , an award given for the quality, prestige and excellence of Made in Italy applied to the world of dance.

From classical ballet, the brand gradually extended its creative language to other sports. This led to the creation of lines dedicated to gymnastics , skating , volleyball , soccer , yoga , aerobics , karate , and horse riding : collections that maintain a consistent and recognizable stylistic signature, yet speak to different communities, all united by discipline, passion, and identity. In this development, the collaboration with the Italian Gymnastics Federation represents a fundamental step: already in 2014, the “I Gioielli della Ginnastica” line was launched, destined to become one of the strongest expressions of the brand's positioning.

From 2019 onwards: the strategic maturity phase

2019 marks a key moment in MIKELART's recent history. On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the Italian Gymnastics Federation , Michele Sessa created the anniversary commemorative medals and designed a special medal for Pope Francis , officially presented in the Vatican during the federation celebrations. This event has a significance that goes beyond a celebratory gesture: it demonstrates the brand's ability to operate not only as a jewelry manufacturer, but as a symbolic interpreter of high-profile institutional events , where jewelry becomes a memory, representation, and identity narrative.

In 2020, the first MIKELART set was launched, expanding the offering to include charms, bracelets, earrings, and rings . This was an important step because it marked the evolution from a thematic collection to a complete product system : no longer just iconic pendants, but a coordinated universe capable of increasing the average value, expanding purchasing opportunities, and making the brand stronger both commercially and in terms of collectibles. This choice should be seen as a natural evolution of the brand toward a greater maturity of its range.

In 2021 , MIKELART's presence in the federation world continues to grow. At the Italian Gymnastics Federation's Medal Festival , the Vicenza-based jewelry company is cited as the company that designs plaques and awards for athletes who have distinguished themselves in the year's world championships. This confirms the continuity of the relationship with Italian gymnastics and the brand's recognition as a credible partner at official celebrations.

In 2022 , "A Ballerina Is Forever" took shape, a project that marked a significant evolution in the brand's language. It's not just a collection, but a narrative platform that transforms jewelry into an emotional and identifying message: the ballerina is no longer merely an aesthetic subject, but a symbol of dedication, memory, belonging, and dream. Strategically, this project strengthens MIKELART's storytelling-driven component, bringing the brand even closer to the aspirational dimension of its audience.

In 2023 and 2024, the brand will take a further leap internationally thanks to its collaboration with Gaynor Minden , a global leader in dance. Several product pages in the Gaynor Minden sales network list the jewelry as being created in collaboration with Mikelart , crafted from sterling silver and finished in Italy using the lost-wax casting technique. This co-branding is strategically significant because it brings MIKELART into a highly qualified international ecosystem, strengthening its position as a premium, global interpreter of dance jewelry.

Also in 2024 , the historic relationship with the Italian Gymnastics Federation is further enhanced: the FGI announces the renewal of its partnership with MIKELART for the tenth consecutive year , underscoring not only the success of the "Giochi della Ginnastica" line, but also the brand's role in the creation of commemorative medals, institutional bookmarks, and the new "Distintivo della Ginnastica" dedicated to competition officials. Here, one of the brand's strongest characteristics clearly emerges: the ability to create objects that define a sports community , going beyond simple accessories.

2024 is also the year of the partnership with the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) . The FIG has announced an agreement making MIKELART the Official Jewellery Partner until the end of 2024, defining the brand's jewelry as the perfect symbol of the beauty and grace of gymnastics. This is probably one of the most significant steps in the company's recent evolution, as it moves the brand from a recognized leader in the national market to an international institutional legitimacy . It is no longer just a brand close to the world of gymnastics: it becomes a recognized partner of the discipline's top global organization.

In the same year, MIKELART further expanded its scope with a collaboration with Sophia Campana , which gave rise to the “Fiamma” line. Available sources present it as a collection built around the themes of inner strength, energy, and personal identity. Strategically, this partnership is interesting because it opens the brand to a more contemporary communication style, closer to the codes of the creator economy and to a young audience that seeks not only elegance but also self-representation in jewelry.

Also in 2024 , MIKELART announced the creation of an official CONI pin, reinterpreted by Michele Sessa , presented to President Giovanni Malagò in the CONI Hall of Honor. This initiative also strengthens the brand's positioning in an area of high symbolic value: that of top-level institutional relations in sports.

Today, MIKELART presents itself as a brand that has transformed a creative intuition into a valuable ecosystem : artisanal jewelry, emotional storytelling, collaborations with federations, academies, and international brands, and the creation of iconic objects for the world of sport and dance. Since 2019, the path has been particularly clear: the brand is growing not only through new collections, but also in terms of authority, institutional relationships, and the ability to address highly distinctive niches . It is precisely this combination of Made in Italy, vertical specialization, and narrative value that makes MIKELART a distinctive and difficult to replicate brand.
